Course description

The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a national-level entrance test conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is held annually to assess the aptitude, creativity, and design skills of candidates seeking admission to Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D. programs in premier institutes such as IITs and IISc Bangalore.

The CEED exam evaluates candidates on various parameters including visualization, innovation, drawing, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills. It is conducted in two partsPart A (computer-based objective section) and Part B (subjective section). Part A tests analytical ability, design awareness, and general knowledge, while Part B focuses on drawing, creativity, and design problem-solving through descriptive questions.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in design, architecture, engineering, or equivalent disciplines. There is no specific age limit, and candidates can attempt the exam multiple times.

CEED scores are accepted by top design institutions across India, making it a crucial step for aspirants aiming for advanced studies in design. The exam not only opens doors to prestigious institutions but also to careers in product design, UX/UI, visual communication, and industrial design.
