Course description

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It serves as the gateway for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs offered at top institutes such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur.

The exam assesses a candidate’s aptitude for design, creativity, logical reasoning, visual perception, problem-solving, and general awareness. UCEED consists of two partsPart A (computer-based test) and Part B (drawing test). Part A includes objective-type questions testing numerical ability, analytical reasoning, and design awareness, while Part B evaluates drawing and visualization skills through descriptive questions.

Students from any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) who have completed or are appearing for Class 12 are eligible to apply. There is no restriction on the number of attempts, though candidates must meet the age and qualification criteria.

UCEED is highly competitive and demands both creativity and precision. Qualifying this exam enables students to pursue world-class design education and build careers in industrial design, communication design, animation, UX/UI design, and other creative domains.
