Course description

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) for admission to Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programs in various architecture colleges across India. NATA evaluates a candidate’s aptitude for architecture, focusing on aesthetic sensitivity, creative thinking, visualization, drawing skills, and critical reasoning — essential qualities for a career in architecture.

The exam is typically held multiple times a year, and candidates can appear in one or more attempts, with the best score considered for admission. NATA is conducted in an online mode and consists of both objective and drawing-based questions. The test assesses areas such as mathematics, physics, logical reasoning, design aptitude, and general awareness related to architecture and the built environment.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed or be appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, or hold a 10+3 diploma with Mathematics.

NATA scores are accepted by most architecture institutions in India, except those under the IITs and NITs (which use JEE Main Paper 2). The exam serves as a gateway for students aspiring to pursue architecture, enabling them to build creative and sustainable design solutions for the future.
